There are no less than a hundred different Nishikigoi varieties including many pattern differences. For purposes of appreciation and show entry, Zen Nippon Airinkai divides Nishikigoi into the following 17 varieties. Varieties 1 ~ 5 are for Group 1, and Varieties 6 ~ 17 are for Group 2 for the ZNA’s Zipangu Prize. In addition, 6 extra categories for male koi over 50 cm are added for koi show judging.
